With 70 years of experience and a specialised management team leading the way, we have the systems and procedures in place to successfully carry out complex projects in remote locations.
We are driven by a strong commitment to providing every client with a first-rate experience. Most importantly, we always deliver on what we say we are going to do, and we pride ourselves on offering a straightforward and stress-free experience.
We deliver on our promise.
With a strong and experienced senior management team leading the way, Hall Contracting possess the capabilities and know-how to tackle some of the most complex and remote dredging projects across the region, as well as a wide variety of civil construction and marine civil works...
To mitigate the impacts of climate change, Hall Pacific is able to design and implement adaptation strategies that improve coastal resilience and reduce vulnerability amongst our Pacific Island neighbours.
Our capabilities include:
We bolster coastal defences through beach replenishment and marine structures such as groynes, seawalls and breakwaters. Our team can adapt to a wide variety of beach erosion issues, developing a customised solution to suit even the most complex of problems.
Whether it’s building or expanding a jetty, installing mooring dolphins to assist with mooring vessels, or repairing damaged roads and causeways, we possess the knowledge and capabilities to successfully deliver a broad range of civil and marine infrastructure.
Our team is experienced in undertaking flood mitigation dredging in rivers and waterways to lessen the impact of flooding in severe weather events. These works decrease the cost of damage to infrastructure and also minimise the threat of tropical waterborne diseases by enabling water to flow to the ocean without obstruction.
Our team has a successful track record in creating usable land from sand dredged from waterways, bays and coral atolls using our fleet of cutter suction dredges and earthmoving equipment. These works enable the expansion of key coastal land areas and adjoining waterways, and allow low-lying nations threatened by rising sea levels to increase the height of their land areas.
Our team is experienced in working everywhere from busy tourist ports and harbours, right through to remote island locations.
At present, we have a range of dredges and ancillary equipment based in the Pacific Islands, including cutter suction dredges, work boats, a tug boat, accommodation barge and support equipment including excavators, dozers and trucks
This allows us to mobilise our team and equipment promptly and efficiently, ensuring we can quickly reach any Pacific Island locations including (but not limited to):
American Samoa
Cook Islands
Federated States of Micronesia
Fiji
French Polynesia
Kiribati
Marshall Islands
Nauru
New Caledonia
Niue
Papua New Guinea (PNG)
Samoa
Solomon Islands
Timor Leste
Tokelau
Tonga
Tuvalu
Vanuatu
Wallis and Futuna
We have successfully designed and built seawalls and artificial reefs, carried out land reclamation works and undertaken flood mitigation dredging in areas such as Fiji, Tuvalu and Papua New Guinea.
Some of the projects we’ve delivered include:
Nukufetau, Tuvalu
Government of Tuvalu and the United Nations Development Program
During 2015, Tropical Cyclone Pam battered a seawall off the Nukufetau atoll, causing concrete blocks to dislodge and damage the community settlement. In response to this issue, Hall Pacific was engaged to design and construct...
Funafuti, Tuvalu
Government of Tuvalu and New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFAT)
In past years, Tuvalu has battled with sanitation and environmental issues caused by ‘borrow’ pits that were dug on the Funafuti atoll during World War II to aid in building an airstrip. Tidal movements resulted in rubbish as well as...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji
Fiji Government
With many of Fiji’s coastal rivers suffering from serious sediment build-up as a result of soil erosion in the upper catchments, and tropical rains and cyclones posing significant flood threats to towns and villages in coastal deltas...
Bua, Vanua Levu, Fiji
Fiji Roads Authority
Servicing a range of ferries, shipping vessels, police, customs and navy personnel, the Nabouwalu Jetty provides a key transportation link between the Vanua Levu and Viti Levu islands in Fiji. Hall Pacific was contracted to undertake...
Funafuti, Tuvalu
Government of Tuvalu and New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFAT)
Following on from a number of successfully completed projects in Tuvalu, our team was contracted once again in 2015 to dredge approximately 35,000m3 of sand and limestone from an existing lagoon. This material was pumped to a reclamation...
Ba, Viti Levu, Fiji
Government of Tuvalu and the United Nations Development Program
A major river in Fiji, the Ba River flows through the town of Ba, a significant agriculture and industrial city on the island of Viti Levu. During the wet season, severe flooding regularly causes damage to local infrastructure and the lives ...
Our team members work hard to improve the quality of life of locals through climate change adaptation and employment opportunities, and are committed to caring for the environment so communities can be sustained for years to come.
We are proud to:
Whether it’s reducing flooding and pollution, creating more useable land space or constructing marine or land transport infrastructure, we contribute positively to the living conditions within Pacific Island communities, ultimately benefiting those that live and work in these areas.
Our team successfully protects against severe weather events, designing and building seawalls that increase resistance against large waves and storm systems. Our land reclamation capabilities also enable us to safeguard Pacific Island communities against rising sea levels.
Rather than bringing a full team of staff with us from Australia, we source a high percentage of workers locally when working in the Pacific Islands. We pride ourselves on equipping local residents with new skills and creating employment opportunities in areas such as marine engineering, machinery operation and diving.
With many Pacific Islanders rely on agricultural practices for their food supply and livelihood; we understand the importance of looking after the ecosystems we work in. Our team is experienced in carrying out environmental impact assessments to ensure any environmental issues are managed effectively. Our dredging and civil construction solutions always take into account the health and prosperity of the surrounding natural environment.
Hall Contracting has to date carried out the works professionally with minimal issues despite the significant challenges associated with undertaking a dredging and remediation project in such a remote location. Hall Contracting has maintained effective communication with a variety of stakeholders throughout the project which has been critical to the current success of the project.
Overall Calibre Consulting has been pleased with Hall Contracting’s conduct throughout the works to date and have appreciated their cooperation and professionalism.
